There were over 46 dolmens look like the ordinary flat rocks in two rows on the little bit high floodplains beside the 'NamHan' river. They were located in Hwangsokri, Chechon(says like Zhechon), near Wonju(says like WonZoo), Korea. Having flooded because of construction Chungju Dam, now 5 dolmens of them have moved to the 'ChongPoong Cultural Properties Complex' near the original place.

These were excavated at first 18 dolmens of them in 1962 by National Museum, at second 8 dolmens in 1982~1983 by Chungbuk University. They have found beneath the Coverstones ; stone daggers, stone axes, stone arrowheads, jades and extraordinary man's bones. The age of this skeleton is identified of 2360 +/-370 C-14 years B.P. (410 B.C.) in 1965.

mukbangri

The structure of these dolmens are similar to the dolmens' have found in Mukbangri, Kechon, North Korea in 1960. These types were called as 'Southern types', but now known as the 'Coverstone types' which is that coverstone only be covered above the coffin room without supporting prop stones on the earth. These types of dolmens or similar ones have been found in many places of southern korean peninsula.

hwangsokri4 menhirs

Couple of menhirs were investgated at second excavation, one of them was thought as a man's measured 247 x 80 x 25Cm, another one as a woman's 203 x 65 x 28Cm. There is a half circle of 11 stones centering around them. They have also found several earthen wares beneath the menhirs. I tried to find these menhirs can be seen in B/W photo at there, but I can not. An enourmous menhir can be seen in the photo on the right end is located in the 'ChongPoong Cultural Properties Complex', which was made in this times. There are lots of old engraved gravestones in a row, and the other old cultural properties are collected in there.
