Petroglyph in Yongju
"The petroglyphs carved on the face of the vertical cliff are among the few dating from Korea's prehistoric age. Some of the eleven similar images were made to stand alone and some were connected to others. They were pected in lines and some were polished to set off the lines. The peck-and-polish technique is a feature common to all prehistoric petroglyphs.
The most prevalent design here is shaped like the handle of a stone knife or a shield. Like the geometric designs found in the petroglyph of Yangjon-dong of Koryong. Chonjonri of Ulchu, and Chilpo-ri of Yongil, it probably signifies an object of worship or a talisman. " (quatation from the information board)
