Brief Description of Economic Institutions

The Choson Dynasty was an overwhelmingly agrarian society, with land as the most basic form of wealth. This by no means meant that the economy was stagnant and the same. New agricultural technology and methods, changes in the tax collection system, and attempts to introduce currency, all contributed to an economy that did change over time.
