THE CHINESE CONNECTION
China had strong ties with North Korea even before it entered the
Korean War. U.S. intelligence confirm that over 100,000 north
korean soldiers fought in the Chinese Civil war on the side of the
communists. In fact, North Korean forces were responsible for the
crack division of the Chinese 4th Regiment that never lost a battle
during the Chinese Civil War. Therefore, when war with the south
drew near, North Korea was probably assured that the Chinese would
return the favor by providing assistance.
