Syngman Rhee
![]()
Rhee had spent most of his life outside of Korea where he received PhD's from Harvard and Princeton. He was an ardernt advocate for Korea's independence during Japanese occupation. Following Korea's liberation after World War II, continued fighting for Korea's complete independance while also denouncing any communist activity in South Korea. However, Rhee's high strung character and his bellicose attacks against his political opponents made him disliked among american personel-especially by General Hodge who often had to work together with Rhee. Rhee and General Hodge were often in disagreement, and the above scene of them sharing a friendly moment together was probably uncommon in their relationship.
